Funny noise

Hi all my 38 diesel is currently making some different noises than usual I,m getting mixed opinions on the symptoms just wondered if any one could give me a straight answer if there is one.Now for my particular problem first of all it lost a little of of its power with a sort of bus noise coming from the engine .I was told to check change inter cooler pipes “done” no difference then told to have the inter cooler cleaned “done “ no different then told to have the turbo rebuilt done “no different “ now it has a rumble above 2000 revs that you can feel more than you here .Next idea is to spend 1000 quid on the gear box and some kind of converter .Please could some one just say what this problem is and save my beloved 38

and listen to what Wammers has to say, have you checked the crank damper they are prone to fail and give vibration and noise and check that the map pipe from the sensor on the fuel filter to the underside if the inlet manifold is clear and sound.
