Nice full tank of Diesel lovely morning sunshine wall to wall
I loaded my trailer with a Pinball LOTR for a trip up to Stockport
that I had sold over eBay and the Landy was super all
the way even up over the moor boy it was windy and
slowed me down a bit against the wind........
and did not get lost once it was a miracle
on the way back I thought looks like I can make back
on one tank of Diesel I was 4 miles away from home
on the A1 Peterborough and the engine just died
by luck I was in sight of a filter road and put it in neutral
and just glided up the filter road onto the roundabout
and down a small road I thought Sh*T by luck
there was a Extra Rest Stop just 1/2 mile away for
some unknown reason my mobile packed up so
walked over to phone home son-in-Law came out
with 5 litre tank and filled up next problem I thought
will it start OK or did the pump need priming no
after just 3 turnovers it was alive and well ....
Got to the Tesco garage and filled up

Anyway the moral to this tale is don't trust your
fuel gauge mine still had a small amount of red
still showing on the left side of the indicator but
I did do over 300 miles on that tank pulling a Trailer

its prob a hangover from the old days wif diesels, (bleeding IP etc.) but i never let it get anywhere near the red line.

and now you wont do it again will you?

Happened to me last month, warning light had just come on, pishing it down, car full of kids, forgot mi mobile, luckily kept stopping & then run for half a mile stop etc.....managed to get me 3 miles to local garage

I broke the fuel pipe on my sender unit and replaced it a while ago. I did a long journey soon after, London to Dorset and back. On my way home, I saw the fuel gauge and thought, "ohh, that’s good, we have used hardly any fuel, there is still quarter of a tank left". Five minutes later and I was on the phone to a mate to ask him to bring a jerry can of fuel..... Luckily a passing series 3 owner stopped and offered to get a can of diesel as he was going to the petrol station anyway.
