I was offroading my landy yesterday when i came across a rather steep hill. Half way up the truck cough spluttered and died. even though the fuel gauge was on quarter tank still this was a very reminiscent of a couple of times in the past where i have run out of fuel completely.
After finally managing to push pull and winch my way back onto the main road i managed to start it up again and hobble to a fuel station. However after putting 45 hard eared quids worth of diesel in it, it was still playing up, it wouldn't rev very high and when it did there was very little power to be had. i ended up crawling all the way home at about 20mph slowing right down and needing 1st gear at the slightest sign of a hill.
My first instinct is that the fuel lift pump has had it, which is why the engine isn't receiving enough fuel to produce any power, but could this also arise from a faulty injector pump? Or something else entirely? i don't want to be buying part after part if i can help it, so if anyone has any ideas, or has had a similar problem in the past, your help would be greatly appreciated.
