Replacing the back box on my LSE and whilst grovelling underneath noticed the steel support panel for the fuel tank is resting on the anti-roll bar. The front part of it has rusted through and has parted from the bit that bolts onto the chassis. Gave all the bolts a soak in penetrating oil as a start, but have been unable to find a replacement panel. Local scrapper had an '89 V8 but it was sitting on it's chassis, so it will need lifting for me to look at/remove (and it's not likely to be in any better state than mine).
Anyone know if the tray is the same size for a normal classic and the LSE, and are there model year differences?
I wondered about bolting galvanised straps to the old one to shackle it together, but replacement would be preferable (assuming I can remove the bolts). Has anyone else had experience of/done this?
TIA - Alastair
