fuel tank filter

just fitting a 200tdi into a series 2, and looking at the reg doc it was a petrol before, so i am wondering if the fuel tank filter is different from a diesel one, i did have a problem years ago fitting a diesel engine into what was a petrol car and it would go for about 12 miles and cut out, changed the tank filter and perfect

Most diesels have a filter fitted after the fuel pump.
Mine has a 200DI (Minus turbo) in and filter is in the left of this pic.

Very important to keep fuel clean for the injectors and injection pump.
