Hi all, hopefully someone can help. I've got a 300tdi 90 with what I think is a fuel starvation problem. In the last two months she's had a lift pump, injector pump and a new fuel filter. She's been running fine for a couple of months since these parts have been fitted.
Today I experienced what felt like a fuel starvation problem. Going up hill seemed worse. Turned the engine off and then back on she was more difficult to start than usual but then seemed fine for half a mile but then the problem re occurred.
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

connect a clear plastic pipe as in pics, look for bubbles.
any sign of air and you need to find where its getting in.
are you running dino fuel or bio?

Thanks for the suggestions. Il open the tank in the morning and have a look. At 28 years old there may well be an inch of sludge in the bottom.

She lives on normal shell/tesco/morrisons Dino juice.

If the tank looks clear il try the clear pipe, great picture tutorial

sounds like you found the problem

fitting a clear plastic feed pipe( as above) is a good idea, make sure its for diesel fuel though ,that standard clear fuel pipe you see knacks up with diesel

If i ran an old diesel motor i would fit a clear sediment bowl filter before the standard filter, you can keep an eye on the state of the fuel and you can clean them out

It looks like a coral reef inside the tank. The car has been rebuilt from top to bottom but the inside of the diesel tank had been ignored.
I'm taking it to the morrisons jet wash in the morning so should be back up and running by dinner time.
