Hi. I'm new to the forum and hoping someone in the know can advise. I have recently caused damage to the top of the fuel sender unit by accident on my 2004 Freelander td4 HSE. Whilst refitting the sender and pushing down hard to fit the locking ring I accidentally snapped the short plastic tube around 8 mm dia that comes from the top of the sender at 45 degrees. I have managed to make a temporary repair. There is a rubber pipe that fixes to this tube with a spring clip. Can anyone advise what this pipe is for? There are the usual inlet/outlet pipes that fix horizontally and a small dia pipe for the fbh. Any advice is appreciated.

the fuel pipe's are a clip fit but the fuel burning heat has a clip on as you describe. if you brought a new sender unit this would have a new one on it, check if it is leaking because a hot exhaust is underneath.

if you look at it from the back of the car the wires go into it in the middle then on the right is fuel return on the left is fuel feed and then at one o'clock is the fuel burning heater hope this helps

Was thinking it may be part of the self priming system. Pipe is at 9 o'oclock on the picture.

is it the bent one if so in Haynes it say that that one is the fbh supply
Think Haynes have it wrong again, instructions for fitting FBH has it as OP says to the small pipe, 24 and 25 in pics, shows the bent pipe already there.
