I fitted a new seal to sedimenter head after finding a small leak.The leak seemed to be coming from the top so thought that would cure it.Its still got a tear on it :doh: Any ideas?
 
take the sedimentor off and join the pipes up, opinion on here is that it's not really needed. if it'e still leaking the you probably have a slight rag on the chamfer of the sedimentor housing. look on e bay if you must keep it, they are dirt cheap to buy the full sedimentor

I don't agree with this at all. When you see how much crâp is caught by the sedimenter, you'll realise it's doing a worthwhile job.
 
just saying what the opinion was. i never took mine off, first time i stripped and cleaned it it was full of crap and jelly stuff:eek:. made sure it was stripped and cleaned regularly after that:D
 
did you have to bleed the fuel system? if so how did you do it?


On the TDi's they will self bleed so I start the motor and keep it on a high tickover for a couple of mins, job done.

On TD5 there is a specific bleeding sequence involving turning the key to position 2, leave for 30 secs, turn off and then do it again, until there is no more noise from the fuel pump.

tried the self bleed on my 200tdi, thets when i found out i hadn't fitted the canister back square:doh: always used the lift pump after that.
