I went to give the chassis a wire brush and spotted the fuel sedimenter - never really been under the back of the Disco so never really gave it much though, so I drained it out but its pretty cloged and dirty.

I know how to get it off but didn't want to open a can of worms this late in the day; so the question is: how likely is it to come off and go back on without it breaking up or leaks developing considering its possibly not been done in over 6 years?

From what I've read it's likely to break, but it's pretty easy to bypass it if it does. I'm in the same boat - keep meaning to do mine but always put it off because of the fear.

Only one bolt holding it at the top, should come off easy, it's usually the drain plug that breaks. Once off, clean round the mating surface, ideally replace the 'O' seal then bolt back up, not too tight. Bypassing it is a better option, the front fuel filter is easier to change, let it collect the gunge.

hi all,
i had similar thoughts!!!!

but whilst replacing my boot floor i bit the bullet!!!!!
mine was all crudded up... had problems starting that i'd been trying to sort over the last 6 months.
decided to take it off and clean, but discovered it had a 10mm hole rotted at the back where all the crap collected.

decided to take off completely.........

by passed from the tank all the way to the rear arch way on the drivers side,
cost about £6 with pipe and clips (did it to there for ease of access)

recently passed mot, and no more starting problems since......

all whilst i was considering doing it all i was advised to do was just change the fuel filter more frequently about twice a year or so....
which i found easy enough..

hope this helps with your considerations

cheers mark
