As I run part Veggie, was looking at modifying my fuel return line so instead of the arm fuel going back into the tank, it goes straight into the Fuel Filter Housing and therefore warming up the fuel nearer the engine to help the veggie.

This is what I was thinking:-

There is a spare inlet on the Housing that has an arrow pointing inwards, same as on the side the fuel goes in:-

So was wondering if this would be a good idea, and this was like a 'one way system', so only fuel can go in.

Then I can just add a new Banjo Connection to the fuel housing to pipe straight from the fuel return, and then just block off the pipe to the tank.

Would this work??? Or is there major problems to doing this???

Cheers guys,

ok the way i see it is you could do that as it will be pre filterd oil any way.

i take it looking at the photos lh side from the spill pipes, rh side from tank and top to pump?

ok i would recomend you have any form of pump between the filter and fuel pump like fitted for the deisel system.

as for heating the incomeing oil will you have a pre heater or heat exchanger system some where after the filter.

to be fair i dont think it will make that much differance and when you change the filter you will have issues bleeding the air from the system, where as return to tank removes the air and replaces with fuel.

best plan use heat exchanger and/or pre heater and let them do there job.

hope this helps

Thanks for that.

I do have an aux heater just before the fuel filter, and a main heater just before the injectors, that switches over to the heater matrix once the car is warm. I was just looking at other things that could help too ;)

what you are looking to do is called a "looped return" the problem with that is that any air is not expelled from the fuel lines. The way to get around that is to fit a thing called a "tiger loop" made for oil fired heating they get air out of systems. I have had one fitted to my transit for the last 2 years with a looped return and it works fine. I fitted it as i had air getting in and could not fine where, since fitting i have not had any ait issues at all.

ok, thanks for that, do you have any pics of your system, and also is there any type of "tiger loop" that I need to look for??
