Fuel pump

Hi guy's I was in scrappies yesterday and he has a fuel injection pump on a BMW 325,I know there much the same but what do you need to do for it to work on my p38 diesel.cheers pat.

From other threads you need to swap the top over with the electrics, but there are also different mounting flange sizes I believe.

the electric top is all that has to be changed to make it compatable to the electrics of the p38

there is no need to do the seals i have never had a problem with them

very easy change the pump if you have the correct tool that keeps your timing in place

How do you keep something in place that is set to + - .001" and to two different settings according to mileage? The pump timing i mean.

the only way to get the timing 100% correct is to plug it in the tool keeps the timing gear in place for pump removal and refitting. the static timing will need a plug in to do it correctly when i put the pump on mine some months back i kept timing advanced it started great every time had great power and no smoke spudH plugged it in and my timing is 1.5degrees advanced but i have no intention of changing that as machine moves like a scalded cat

you only need the tool if you are changing the injector pump i got a loan of the tool and had one made i would imagine you could get on on ebay

hi sean, yes i think i'll need to change the fuel pump as it is leaking diesel,but what do the tool needed look like,do you have pics of them,or what there called.cheers pat.

on ebay type in bmw injector pump you will find it listed as, bmw rover vauxhall 2.5 diesel injector pump puller price £32.99 it looks like a black tube with a bolt screwed into it

Lucky lad then, many times you would not get it anywhere near that close by just throwing pump in. Luck of the Irish comes to mind.
