i have been looking at buying the timing tool set and they vary in price but all look the same.
Has anybody bought the sub £25 kit from flea-bay? Was it OK?

9.5 mm drill bit for the pump, 4.5 mm drill bit through the centre of a wading plug .. ;)

I Purchased a cheap kit off ebay, one in a red plastic case, included the puller etc. did the job great.

But as Paul D stated , you can use a drill bit and modify a wading plug easily enough if you only need the timing pins.

Cheers

I am changing my pump and don't want to disturb my belt. So need the big round part that holds the pulley.

I bought a cheap kit from ebay, all the bits in the nice red plastic box seem well made and fit for purpose. I've used the kit to do belts on 200/300tdi's with no problems. I think most of these kits, regardless of brand name and price, are actually the same. I suppose if you were doing belts every day it might be worth buying genuine Land Rover special tools but for occasional use the ebay kits are absolutely fine.

I made one ... Use the adjuster plate as a template and three short bolts .. it isn't (doesn't have to be) as pretty as the kit one but is satisfying to use .. :)

I think I will buy one of the cheap ones and as my 110 is a forever car, I am sure I will use it again in the future.
