After nearly seven months of totally trouble-free daily driving since the conversion (ex Disco 3.5 V8 and ex RRC ZH4HP22 into a 2.5 P 90) I was feeling very pleased but did wonder what the first hiccup would be...

This morning, for the first time ever, she wouldn't start:eek:. Turned over ok, lots of oomph in the battery but just wouldn't fire even with some throttle - normally she fires up cold or hot, after a couple of spins with no throttle input.

Lifted the bonnet, checked for a spark (yes) but no petrol smell. Lifted the seat to get at the tank and used a 12v bulb probe on the feed to the pump (red circle in the photo) and that was ok. Next undid the six screws holding the pump in the tank and lifted it out (it's an in tank RRC V8 Efi pump PRC8318). All looked ok, still new, with a clean filter bag. I checked the plug from the top connection into the body of the pump (blue circle in photo) was secure, the earthed probe lit on touching the +ve terminal, cleaned and reconnected it and still no sound from the pump. I assumed the pump was bust, which was annoying seeing it is only 7 months old so to be sure I put 12v across the terminals and it spun perfectly....reconnected it and NADA!

I'm a bit stumped but could it be the fuel pump relay has died? it normally clicks on and off with the ignition but yesterday I heard a buzzing noise...or, the auto-inhibitor switch which cuts off the fuel pump is stuck on?

Any thoughts most appreciated :)

All working again now :)
It was a loose connection to the black plug on top of the pump. Cleaned it up, tightened the pin holes and it ran. Pulled the relay cleaned the terminals, vaselined and replaced. Can't find the inertia switch but I don't think that was the issue.
Happy days.
