Hi all,

Im looking at buying another Disco for off road duties and winter only, its a '93,
now its not in too bad nick for what it is, its an import from Austria and has been quite well maintained by the look of it but has sat for 5 weeks without being started whilst the current owner sorted out the registration here in Poland.

I went to have a look at it yesterday and she started first time and drove well enough, all the boxes work, there isn't even a crunch into second:) difflock, hi-lo all good but when i got under it to have a look at the chassis i noticed a leak off the pump where it meets the back of the cam cover.

now doing a bit of research seems to show that this is in need of a rebuild and will have to be stripped from the engine and rebuilt with the repair kit and put back on, obviously a new timing belt is a good idea as it has to come off, but what im after is an idea of cost based on UK prices so i can negotiate a bit on price.

I have a rough idea of price translation from the uk to here so has anybody paid to have this done and if so can i ask what you paid please folks.

Many thanks

Pol.

Look at the back top of the injection pump there is a little rubber nipple
The nipple is the vent hole for under the boost diaphragm.
One of my tdi leaks a little diesel out of this, i did put a pipe and a pot on it but removed it as the amount was so small there wasnt actually much to measure, in the end i drilled a small hole in the chassis and ran a pipe from the nipple into the chassis, no drips out of any holes as of yet has been like this for over six months.
So basically dont worry about it and look out for a cheap replacement injection pump on ebay, got my spare one for 20 pounds.
Obviously the guy doesnt know this so try and get 500 gbp of the price
