Good morning . Been reading a few threads with a similar issue. Rangerover Vogue03 TD6 struggled to start and turn over once it did drove about 2 miles and it’s cuts out (fuel injection problem) wait a couple minutes then start and it will drive about the same distance then judder and cut out again. Replaced the fuel filter yesterday was better starting but does the same with what seems to be a lot of bubbles coming through in the fuel to the filter ? Any body had similar and fixed it ? I am thinking fuel pump ?

Clearly air getting in somewhere.
Whilst I would expect a hole between the pump & engine would be noticable with a fuel leak I think you may be on the right path.
Either the pump itself or any piping between the pump & the fuel in the tank. I have heard of a problem on another - not LR - vehicle which was fine until the level in the tank dropped below a certain point & then had air bubbles in the line. Checking the in-tank pump revealed the pick up tube had deteriorated & had small holes.

Couldn’t find any leaks between tank and engine filter. We noticed the pipe juddering and jumping when running as if it was getting fuel and air fuel and air. Managed to limp it to a fuel station and filled tank over halfway and the problem has gone ? Possibly a week pump or hole in th internal pickup in the tank ?

When I lived in Portugal, I used to do a lot of work on borehole pumps. (up to 300m deep)
The pumps could deliver hundreds of litres per hour but the slightest pinhole above the waterlline in the well and no water.
I would guess you have a leak between the pump and the top of the tank.

Appears you've now narrowed it right down to either of them. You're going to have to remove it to have a look.

"I had my in tank fuel pump replaced on my TD6 just before xmas.
My symptoms were fuel injection error followed shortly by the engine cutting out. This would only happen when it got down to between quarter and a third of a tank of diesel left. Funny thing is the car would restart after a couple of minutes of letting the pumps prime and get me to the nearest fuel station to fill up. I also noticed that a couple of times when it was low on fuel that the car would struggle to start before I got the fuel injection error and engine stopping. but the car ran perfectly if I kept the fuel tank above a third of a tank.

I was lucky and got a nearly new pump off the bay for just over 60. When the car went in to have the pump changed I took a look in the tank as it was down to about a third of a tank, the side the pump fits on (Drivers side) was pretty much empty, while the passenger side of the saddle tank was full to the brim. The inside of the tank was totally spotless so I know there was no contaminants. It was just the siphon part of the pump was not moving fuel across to the drivers side part of the saddle tank. Anyhow it took just over an hour to fit and since then I have run it to under 20 miles range left and its been fine."

Hi all . I replaced the inline pump same problem but would t even turn over. I took the pipe that feeds this pump off and when turning on the ignition the diesel was just spraying a little bit. So I purchased an intank Pump only and replaced it myself and now she is working with no issues . Thanks for the help

Hi, I am having a very similar issue with mine. I replaced the inline fuel pump and filled the tank. All good for the last 2 days and for the past 250 miles, but today as soon as it reaches the quarter tank, the engine died twice with the fuel injection failure on the dashboard. I think that I am going to replace the intank fuel pump next. Did you just buy the motor or the whole pump? (I have seen people selling just the motor) and any links, tips for the diy? Many thanks

Hi yeah I replaced just the motor got it from EBay for £65. A fiddly job but followed the video on YouTube and it was sorted. Sounds like the same problem the pump just slowly gave up the ghost.
