I have recently fitted a new tank and sender unit to my 90 from paddocks. It was all working fine for about 2 weeks, the guage was working perfectly and so was the light. Now however the light stays on constantly (it goes off for a couple of seconds very rarely!). I have checked the connections on top of the tank and they all seem fine and are connected? Any ideas where to look next?

Thanks

I just had one and did you notice the wiring on the paddocks replacement is very different to the landy original? Took me ages to work that out!

I suspect you have a short between the fuel sender light wire and a live wire somewhere (most probably on top of the unit but could be anywhere along the wire) - does the gauge work OK?

Yes I did notice the replacemtnent is very different, however it seems that it works well and is accurate, and doesn't move about as I brake/accelerate/corner etc.

Yes the guage works spot on. Just the light thats the problem. So I think next I shall clean the connections up with rag and spray some contact lube on them. As they have no signs of corrosion i dont think emery paper is needed.

Unplug the low fuel wire from the sender unit, if the light's still lit the short will be somewhere between the wire and the light, if it goes out the sender is kaput and needs to be sent back to Haddocks. (or the short will be obvious on top of the sender)

I've got the same problem and have given up looking for the cause as I've wasted hours trying to track it down.
One day it was fine - filled up with derv and after 10 mins the light came on and has been on ever since.
A small piece of black tape does the job.
My gauge works just fine.

I have wiped the connections on both the sender and the wires and still no luck!!!

When I disconnect the wires from the sender the light still stays on!!

I am having exactly the same problem as Shifty has, after a few minutes driving it came on and has been on ever since, its bloody annoying!
