Fuel leak td5...please help

Hi,
I'm fairly new to the forum so I'm sorry if this has been covered before (had a look but cant find anything).
I'm the proud owner of a D2 td5 and slowly becoming more proficient with my mechanics skills (slowly is the operative word).
My disco threw an oil hose a couple of weeks ago and had a trip to the local garage. They replaced the hose and I took the opportunity for them to do a service at the same time.
I pulled up today and noticed a diesel leak. It seems to be only under pressure and is coming from around the fuel filter but not the actual filter if that makes sense. There is also a loose cable, not attached to anything that is coated with a good amount of diesel.
I will upload some pics....
This is probably child's play for the vast majority of members but I'm new to the scene and need the 7 seats for my son's birthday party run on Sunday.

the aluminium fuel filter housing that the filter screws onto are prone to cracking and corroding through, check all the pipe connectors are fully engaged and the filters secure

Hi,
The connector was like that when I looked. I'm assuming that this should be attached somewhere around the filter?

Hi the loose wire is from the water senor nothing to worry about have you checked the fuel filter with the engine running so the fuels under pressure to see if it's leaking could be when it was serviced that the garage left the top fuel filter in place hope this helps

No sedimenter on a td5

Cheers, like I said...my knowledge is increasing slowly....the missus in particular enjoys hearing about every new nugget of landrover based info I come across

My money's on @lynx45 with the extra filter seal. When you change the filter during a service the original seal gets stuck to the housing and if it's not checked you end up with 2 seals causing filter to seat inccorrectly

I'm starting work now but if you're stuck over the weekend p.m me I'm in Wolverhampton so may be able to come and scratch heads with you

Hi just had another look at your photos the top fuel filter inlet an outlet pipes are dry so either the fuel filter is'nt seated correctly as said the old seal is still in place with new seal or the white bleed tap at the bottom is loose

Thanks again for all the help and kind offer of assistance 1988smithy. I'm determined to sort it for Sunday...it's my 8 year olds birthday and he seems more excited about his mates travelling in the 7 seat disco than he is about the theme park....quite rightly too...future Landy driver

yes should reseat ok when you've taken fuel filter off you have to follow a self bleed but if you look on this site www.discovery2 .co.uk under maintenance it will show you how

Just an update to say that the leak is fixed. It was the hose. It had rubbed through. Had literally a pin sized hole in it. Cut it down and re-attached....seems to work well for now....Thanks again for your help all
