I apologise if this thread has been on the site before. I'm completely new to this.
My 110 defender has a fuel gauge that reads 1/4 full, but the dash light flashes on!! Is this normal (I've not had the beast too long). And, does a V8 really drink that much petrol? I seem to be putting £30 of fuel a week! Should I increase my overdraft or get it looked at? Regards

Hi Hector,

I've got a 90 2.5 TD, when i accelerate harshly, my fuel light flashes on then goes off and stays off till i next put my foot down from a stand still or slow speed! as for your fuel consumption, i cant really say for the V8!

Well it depends how far your going I suppose, but its probally right.

As for the fuel guage, they tend to light up early, I think its all about not getting stuck up a mountain with no fuel, especially in a V8 that uses 1/4 a tank per mile in low range.

when i had the rr v8, it could use a full tank in a weekend.
and i never left bolton!

Hello,

I also have a 110 V8, as you will soon learn, the petrol lights spends more time on rather than off!!
It does come on at 1/4 of a tank, however the other day i had it between 1/4 of a tank and 0 and it started to cut out, luckily i was near a petrol station.
Fuel consumption is high, epically with a roof rack like i have.
to fill the tank up, it costs me about £80ish, to travel to Northampton from surrey, it took about 1/2 a tank of petrol.

But that’s the price you have to pay to have the V8 POWER

Scott.
