just fitted a brand new tank to my 90, and whilst i was there i replaced the sender unit. but now i dont have a fuel gauge reading, but i have a low fuel warning light. what could be the problem.

also, i had the seat box out to do some welding, but theres a wire a brown with black tracer, and goes into a socket (with 3 wires) that ends up going through the bulkhead, but dont know if this needs to go to the possitive or an earth?

Faulty sender or wire not fully connected - unlikely gauge would have failed if working before

Presume your sender has 3 wires on it (some have only 2)

Re: other wire - sorry, no idea, may be something a previous owner added - if everything else is working I wouldn't worry about connecting it to anything:rolleyes:

i have wriggled the wires but no differnce, i wired it up as before. yeah, its 3 wires. mite go pull it out to make sure it aint stuck.

the other wire looks like part of the loom, but for what i dont know, i looked up the wiring diagram and cant find the wire

commonly used colours brown with black tracer = "Alternator battery sensing lead"
but if added (by others) after loom installed it could be anything.
Does it go anywhere, or what are the colours of the other two wires in the socket?

Mind you, leave it alone, insulate it off & all will be well.

If it ain't blown anything up as yet then what harm is there in it? :D

Photo! Where does it go after the bulkhead? Part of a split charge system? I have the LR split charge system in my 90 and it sounds a little like what you described.

going ok without it, tryed it to positive and earthed it and it didnt do anything. the colour changes after the plug, but cant remember what to, will try do abit more probing and searching, will try get some piccys up
