1995 to 1998 GEMS V8 4.0 and 4.6 has fuel filter in fuel line close to the air tank.
1999 to 2002 BOSCH MOTRONIC V8 (Thor) 4.0 and 4.6 does not have a fuel filter.
The fuel filter is included in service kits for the GEMS engine but, is surplus to requirements if you have the BOSCH Thor engine. (Same kit for both).
I now have an extensive collection of unwanted fuel filters
