Hi guys, fbh don't work, is there any other way to get to temp sensor without taking bumper off ? if thats not the problem any ideas ? iv'e only had the vehicle 6months so i don't know if they work any good, is it worth paying to have it checked out or are the fbh's not worth bothering with.
Any info would be greatly recieved, thanks................

 BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR 5.30 am start

Hi Mine was working ok till this morning when I needed it the most. Yes when It works it warms the freelander up real quick. Within 5 mins its nice and warm, windows defrosted. I was just checking to see if anybody has the same issues as myself. I really missed it this morning. It was working 2 weeks ago. Why did it not work today. To cold??

Thanks for the reply UK97, could you tell me ? does the engine have to be running before it works, as i thought it came on by itself when parked up & engine off if it was below 5 degrees, then when you started the vehicle the heater cooling system was already hot.

Thanks .....................

The FBH comes on automatically with the ignition on when the temp drops below 5deg Celcius.

You can get a timer or a remote control to switch it on seperately. A couple of recent threads discussed ways to o this without handing loadsa hard earnt cash over to a LR dealer.

Mine was dropping little hot embers on the ground last night after I switched off and walked away !!

Thanks Mark2, i don't think mine is working then, its 5 mls to work & it takes 4 of those to get warm, any ideas ???

thanks..................

I assume you have a TD4.

When you swtch the ignition on (with frost on the ground) you should hear a ticking sound from the rear wheel arch - that's the additional fuel pump dedicated to the FBH.
You will also hear a sound rather like a miniature Jet engine starting up under your nearside front bumper and a distinctive smell of burning diesel.

There will also be a plume of smoke from the same place - scared the shyte out of me the first time.

4 mins would be a good time to get warm. Try it in a car that doesn't have one.

Thanks Mark2 i will give it a go & look & listen for the things you have told me, then go from there.

Thanks for your help

P.S yes it is a TD4

Mine again did not work this morning, no noise or anything. Worked ok m2 weeks agao.

How can i check it

does it have a fuse or relay?

How do I go about this?

Cheers

Ow do
Fuse 5 in 't box under 't bonnet is the one. My FBH dunt work either. Fuse is ok tho. Any one know any common probs with t' feckin tings?

The 2005/6 models don’t come with FBH but have a 400w electric heater instead!
Which I find clears the windscreen in under 5 mins!:)

On sat I checked all fuses in car and engine bay.

I then jacked up car took wheel off the removed inner wheel arch lineing.

Everthing looked ok. Took wires off fbh sprayed with trusty WD40. Put it all back together.

Low and buggar me the bloody thing fired up. Checked it out this morning Sun. Still fired up. Fingers crossed for when the cold returns.

Do no what I did loose wire dodgy fuse what ever it now looks ok.

Do this help anyone???

My fbh still hasn't worked all week, been listening for pump & fbh noise but nothing.
So thanks for the info UK97, what you have done will be my next move when i manage to get the time.

Thanks & all the best, Griz....................
