I've just been coming home in the snow and the Freelander got me home through thick snow with no problems.

However, I was going down a hill, causing the snow to slide off onto my windscreen, just as my wipers were going up to clear the window - this has caused the wipers to not work properly - the left one works as it should, but the right one has no movement and just sits on it's rest position.

Does anybody have an idea what's up with them, or, how much a repair will cost?

Thanks in advance!

NM.

Check where the wiper arm joins the linkage through the plastics normally rounds off the teeth. You might get away with tightening it up a bit,

If not What freelander do u have as I'm breaking one at the mo and still have complete wiper system ,

Oh and next time clear the snow from the roof makes it much safer for the cars behind

Probably just the spindle nut has come loose at the base of the wiper arm...take off the cover and check that first.

Ball joint on linkage drops off due to wear, repair clip can be bought of eBay for a few pounds. Mine failed last year, fitted the clip and no problem since.

So what was wrong then? you must know by now...it might be nice for just one of your posts to have an ending so that people with similar problems can search and find an answer ..not just open ended threads like you seem to be creating.

Hiya mate
I had exactly the same problem with mine a few months ago, happened in torrential rain which wasn't ideal!
the second wiper eventually failed too, as what happened was the plastic ball joint on the linkage wore out. You can get little clips to re-fit the ball joint onto the linkage for a few quid on ebay...I ended up buying a entire new linkage, cost around £100 from LR :(

The same happened with my friend's when he had to brake pretty quickly, the snow from the roof fell forward, wiped out both arms, stopping one from working. The linkage was replaced and it was fine. The other arm was in the wrong position and while the linkage was being replaced on the other arm the repairer sorted it's position out.

Hi,
Buy the 3 clips on e-bay. Repair the joint that has failed and re-inforce the other 2. Remove wiper arms, self tap screw in to hole in centre of plastic rivets and pull, remove plastic trim. All will be revealed.

to get the plastic scrivit pins out just get a very thin screw driver and put it down the center and screw clockwise, the pin will just drop out and then just pull the remainder our and pick up the screws later and just place them back inside the scrivet after you have put them back in.
