just wondered what peoples thought of this

Just came across this pic, and thread, literally!!!! Love it, have you any details of winch, fitting etc. Id love one. Seriously though Id really be intrested in that setup on mine ( 2003 td4) thanks.

Hi,

same as cox325, looks great i'm also thinking about a winch on the front of mine. Was it easy? What was the cost roughly? I currently fixing a snorkel to my TD4!

Thanks for your time

finally some nice replys rough cost was only cost of winch because im lucky to be an engineer and had metal there, ill post few more picts if your intrested but basically i got a spare front bumper/bar crash bar and used that togeather with depth of radiator to make one up in steel

yeah id love more details mate. its a fantastic subtle job too well done. I had the bumper off this to fit some fog lights and sussed out the room behind the bumber, together with radiator/ and intercooler and that Ally bar theres not a lot! must have been a squeeze! So is it simply mounted on to a steel bar fabricated to replace the ally one?

heres a few more picts

Took my bumper off last weekend to fit the bumper fitted fog lights and took photos. it seems that its an illusion!!! Your right 2 bolts, its just that my rad and intercooler are in a different arrangement. But I'll definitely consider it, I'll have to get hold a fabricator first to see if he could do what you did. I dont have the facilities for metal working of that scale. Seriously I think you'd be able to patent the mount you did and maybe sell them or get mantec etc to develop it. I'd be the first to buy one off you! Have you had to use it in anger? or even tried pulling a stuck Freebie yet to see about twisting or stresses?

i have towed out a tractor (90) and pulled my self out of a hole or two just to check and it does the job perfect

from comparing your picture to mine you should not have to much of a problem might even be easyer cause my intercooler was vertical and stuck out whole way down, where as yours goes horz to just below your lights the winch does not seam to come up that high,
I did have the same thought that i could prob make a few or sell design but when i first put it on didn't get that many thoughts so thought sod them all it suits me fine but now having your feed back and comments has started the grey matter going again cheers if you do get someone to start one soon please feel free to get in touch and i'll help anyway possible

Well in all seriousness if you did happen to make another one, Id come down and fetch it, pay for it, and buy a u pint of Englands Finest Ale. Albiet the wife works for a Welsh Brewery and may be ample to obtain some "Samples"!!!
