Hi all

Just read Trewy's photo guide on changing the front shocks as my nearside one has been rattling like mad for a while, and just found out whilst having all my tyres changed that the front two shocks are mismatched anyway - one is an uprated spax type whilst the rattling one is the original LR type.

The guide is excellent and feel confident in managing it myself, however how do I know what size to get??

Just checked Paddocks and they show 90", 110" and 130" versions of coils (I wanna change them whilst I've got them off).

Also, was thinking of changing out the turrets too as they are not looking too good either.

Any advice on what I need to buy would be very much appriciated!

Thanks!

BTW - I've got a 1992 Defender 110 200Tdi

Go for the standard rate OEM springs for a 90 unless you want to change the rears as well. Best shockers are the Bilstein ones, but can be a bit pricey, save a few quid and get DeCarbons  or be cheap skate and get ProComps. You could go for Old Man Emu's if you won the lottery last night though...

Was thinking of just changing coils and shocks all round to be honest - will look a lot better and if I'm doing the fronts I might as well do the rears whilst I've got everything to hand as they'll be much easier!

So, when they say 90", 110" and 130" are they talking Defender 90, 110, etc or is it just coincidence that they increase in size by those measurements??

Just get standard 90 springs and Armstrong shocks - unless yer into serious off roading or load-lugging, anything else is just bling.

110 and 130 rears will not fit a 90. As trewy said, but I prefer the better shockers, but then I offroad my 90. Go standard height and standard spring rates.

The standard armstrong ones are pretty good, esp for the price. And as was said, the 90, 110, 130 ones are for the different models.

Make sure you put your springs back on in the right places - they are all slightly different, unless you buy ****part ones.
