front seats in 3 door disco 1

Is there a difference between the seats in 3 door and 5 door discos?

or is it just the bases that are different?

Can I fit a 5 door seat in my 3 door Discovery 1?

Yes they're different. The 3 door ones fold forward for passengers to get in the back whereas the 5 door ones don't. I think the 5 door ones are also slightly smaller. I would imagine the fixing points in the floor are the same so they should be interchangeable but back seat passengers wil have a bit of a struggle getting in if they don't flop forward in a 3 door.

take the back seats out and insure it for two.Will save you alot of dollar

I have a 5dr seat in place for my drivers seat after mine collapsed. apart from being a different colour they are identical (but have seat covers so you don't notice) It doesn't go forward now but that just means that i have the perfect excuse not to have to get out and let passengers out

I was hoping that the 5 door seat would fit on the 3 door tilting base.

Yes, the seats are the same fitting, though not necessarily the same style/model. A 5 door front seat will fit on a 3 door base. I bought a replacement for mine last year - no problems.
