So I currently have some knackered bucket seats which are in desperate need of replacing. Also my wife is threatening me to get rid of the car unless I get some replacements which are easier to get in and out of.

It seems to be bewildering what options there are, especially when trying to get best value for money seats that will fit properly.

There are some original Defender seats on Ebay currently £550 in fair condition. Is this the best option or is there a cheaper solution? ie there are some nice cheaper seats out there but will they fit properly and is it a pain to get them to fit?

Welcome:).

Do a search and ask over in the defender section. Many go for RX8 seats, not too buckety. Peeps find original seats a little uncomfortable for long drives.
Original does keep the access to the battery easy, most seat conversions block that ability.

£500 sounds alot to me but then I haven't looked;).

You could use this as an opportunity to buy a Range Rover:D.

Thanks so much for your reply, that's a v helpful start. I was aware of the RX8 option but none on Ebay at the moment. I like the early Range Rovers but simply
can't do the modern ones!
