Hi all, have took the covers off my front seats on my project ready for some a nice new Exmoor trim re-trim kits but while the upper frames are ok the bottom of the frames could do with some tlc. I've done a forum and web search and no results came up, they're quite rusty on the outside and inside the runners is it best just to blow them out and pump some grease in rub the tops down and give them a quick spray or are they fairly easy to strip down and do the job right. Don't want to start the job and then so far down the line find out its one of them jobs that you're better off taking the easy options.
Any help or advice most welcome cheers Ian

I striped the lot out and had them blasted and powder coated.havnt got a pick of the fronts but do have a pic of the 2nd rows which had the same treatment.

Also, check the front and rear mounting for cracks, I spotted splits in mine so welded them up before the refurbishment.

They look good have done the 2nd row on mine, yeh have spotted that the mounting plates on one of mine are loose so was planning doing a bit of welding to it. Are they relatively easy to take apart ? Is it just the 3 cross head screws on top that you need to remove ?

Yes, just the screws iirc but it was 15yrs ago!
I seem to recall it was fiddly to reassemble them though because both rails move independent of each other once the screws are removed.

yes was a bit worried about removing the sliding mechanism as you can't see whats inside and how it goes back together.

Iirc the sliding mech stays in one piece and doesn't strip down into component parts, I think it's all rivited together or something? Just the screws and your done iirc.
