Haven't used the Landy much recently and the front door hinges have seized up. Passenger side top is fine but the bottom hinge is solid. You can force the door open, but the twist on the door and bulkhead side must be immense. Now I have the hinge off it's impossible to move by hand.
Anyhow, thought I'd knock the pin out but I can't budge it. I've looked at old threads on here and some say 10 min job to knock out and replace, others say it's a PITA.
I suppose they'll all be different, but who has managed it and who hasn't?

Key question.
The pin is flush with one side of the hinge, but doesn't get all of the way out of the other end. Which side do I hit it from, or does it not matter?

I would suggest buy a new hinge, which is what I did. However, I then had to drill out the fixings, buy new fixings and now the door doesn't close nearly as well as it used to :(. It may be a PITA but if there is a way, go for it.

Cheers, doriz. After hammering my thumb knuckle the third time I gave up trying to hammer the pin out. Invented a hinge exercising machine instead.

Thought it would burst the bolts through the timber, but it didn't. I had to stand on one plank and pull the other, but it gradually slackened off with regular applications of penetrating oil and clean engine oil. Moved the bolt holes out a bit to give me wider exercise arc:rolleyes: Nice and slack now! Plus, I've got pecks like Arnie!
I've already sent off the patent, so if anyone wants one it'll cost ya a quarter of midget gems.

That is genius, if only I'd had the foresight. I'll think of that every time I have to slam my door to get it to close properly.

Before the winter comes and frozen water locks your doors, apply some of that anti-seize stuff ...

It bloody would , chuffed fer ye :D
I'm really chuffed and surprised. Thought I'd have to bray the pin out and rub the middle section with some emery tape. That pin wasn't going to move though  Top thumb knuckle is knacking me  from when I was trying to welly the punch and missed. Necessity is the mother of invention! ;)
