front grill

Can I ask does anyone know how to get the front grill off,
I see there are four screws along the top and there are one either side of the towing eye bottom front,
Are there any more and it looks like it is all one unit and goes round under the headlights,
Is it a big job and are there any obstacles that could be costly if it goes wrong and I break something.

Hi Bill,

You do realise it's the whole front bumper that comes off - not just the grill - it's all in a oner.

There are several more screws and bolts to get at - I reckon about 17 in all.

Haven't you got a Haynes manual? A wise investment - it's not perfect, some of the pics are not that clear - but for what you are asking - it's very necessary.

You have to pull back the inner plastic wing to reach some bolts and there are the screws all the way round the inner wings. Plus the famous 'scrivets'.

Nothing difficult - just complicated and involved. Once you have all the bolts / screws out get someone to help pull the bumper forward - you really need someone at each side, or you will drop it as its awkward to handle on your own.

Your problem will mainly be rusty screws, and the little clip things they screw into may fall apart.

land rover owners say "if it aint broke yet , it soon will be!"

what year?, if like my 2000 freebie the middle rad cover/grill unscrews at the top (the x4 screws) and pops out the bottom mesh screws can be reached from inside there bur they are a pig to get back in..
