Thanks....makes things as clear as mud. The local Landrover agent said they
were different but couldn't tell me how, even when he was looking at them
both. I have (since Saturday) a SIIa (according to it's numbers built in
1963) 88" with SIII gearbox, unknown diffs (4.1 ratio AFAICT), military spec
strengthened axle housings, NZ military spec raised suspension (yes, they
raised the 88" here), heavy duty half shafts and drive flanges, a Defender
bonnet & grille, 6 cylinder Holden engine, SIII brakes (that don't work),
twin fuel tanks, SIII wipers, FWH, rust free chassis & bulkhead, and god
knows what else that I haven't discovered yet. I'll have to play match the
driveshaft I guess.
