Would a 4.6 front axle complete fit my p38 derv. Been offered one thats dry and dosent apper to have done nearly 5k with no oil in it like mine

Its complete breaks bearings diff and shafts off an 01plate. Just thinking its less of a faff about then doing the seals and can do my own in spare time. Since my van isn't even running yet just need an easy solution for the moment. amazingly my front end hasnt wined or anything mabye no damage as of yet?

Assuming theres another seal apart from the driveshaft seal. Pig of a job? just scoped rave just the 1 end seal?

Drive shaft seal is much easier to do than an axle change.about 1.5 hrs for an old fart like me. seal is about £5

Yeahh il get the axle as a spare and then attempt my seals if that goes wrong iv got an axle to keep me going if i do okay can sell the 4.6 at the bargain rate im getting it

Depends how rusted up everything is.

I started writing a How To a week or two back but the admins haven't OK'ed it yet so I cannot find it to finish it! I was putting lots of photos in to help first-timers. Getting the hub-nut off is an effing nightmare. Get someone with airtools to loosen it first. The screw holding the brake-disc on can be a bit of a sod too so get a replacement. The brake caliper bolts too. It is all mucky and rusty and crappy in there!

Seal £4 from Island, IIRC.

All New callipers discs and pads last year and its had various old oil leaks everywhere to the point itd cover the back window. Iv fresh leaks too so probs not too much rust. Wheelsbearing/hub nut bolt the 36mm one behind the landy badge on wheel aye lol a big breaker bar and a air gun should do. just going to get dealer seals orderd tomorrow it hasnt actually used any oil checked earlier but the need done now

HI, the trick that worked for me was ,plenty of plus gas, have a brew, then when all the bolts (4) are out of the hub, rotate the hub first ,using a drift, both ways slightly to break the rust . Before you try to knock the hub out. if you turn it,it also gives you somewhere to put the drift against. I used a 4lb lump hammer and it came off in about 10 mins.use plenty of copperslip when you put it back on(just in case)

Cheers grrrrr appreciated seals and cv boots orderd here on wednesday. Checked oil and its still at the filler hole so itl last for the week
