Today l changed the front/rear diff oils on my 2005 110.
The rear was fine, the old oil was still a gold colour and there was about 2.5 litres came out.
But the front, only about a litre and a half of what looked like mainly diluted swivel grease.
Now my front swivels were shot and l kept refilling them for about three years.
I finally had a dealer replace them last year.
I wonder if the grease got into the axle while l was regularly refilling the swivels?
Would the swivel replacement normally include replacing the oil seals? I am hoping that is the case, and they just never changed the diff oil.

Can you remember if they took the hubs off? Did you have wheel bearings done at the same time or just the swivel bearings?

its fairly std for front diff oil to be contaminated by the swivel housing grease, chrome ball shaft seal should stop it but rarely does, though if its excessive it wants recitfying

Trying to learn about this JM as I've got this job lined up to do when I get a fine day outside. Is that seal no FTC840/FTC3145?

I’ll monitor the new oil to see if it gets contaminated.
Although l may have to change it again to get more of the grease out.
I will assume that as they fitted a full swivel ball kit the seals were changed.

The dealer says they changed the oil seals. I changed the diff oil again today and it came out better but still contaminated with swivel grease.
At least this time it ran out instead of glugging out like soup.
I assume the grease got in before l had the swivels changed.
