I recently bought a front hub and ABS sensor from a breaker.
Sadly they came separate and I did't get the bolt/screw to hold one to the other :(

Please bear with me - I'm doing this research a long way from the hub and I want to get the right part this week so I can put it on this weekend - otherwise I'd footle around with it and resolve the issue myself!...

Can someone confirm their spec or part number?

Cheers

I hope you dont want to fit a second hand hub to your car m8:eek: ... google out TAY100060 and buy a new one, preferable with Timken bearing if you want it to last...it will come with the sensor fitted...if you need just the sensor go for an OEM SSW500020 or TAR100060 , make sure it's with plug or without it according to what you have

funny one this - RAVE says that the sensor is supplied attached to the hub and must not be removed...

Diff.

yes... but they've "overreacted" a bit there:mad:...cos it could happen to hurt the sensor's wire in a heavy off road expedition, or the sensor's winding to cede due to heat ...then what? ... replace the whole hub:confused:

These replies are all scary

I note a lot of places sell the sensor separately so I can only presume they can be replaced so I'm going to :lalala:

And just hope someone can tell me the details of the screw :)

Can it be seen by crawling under the Landy? If so, I'll have a look For What It's Worth.

I know what you mean sierra - not the first vehicle manufacturer to extort money from the customer :D

Sadly no you would need to be very flexible just to look at the head of the 'screw' and require some quite fantastic tools to undo it.

Basically, its wheel, caliper, pads, carrier and disc off to see the darned thing
Then its having the courage to undo it and measure it - the courage is because others feel that the sensor should be left well alone - and I tend to agree with them - if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Thanks for the offer though.

When I find out, I will publish the specs here!

Cheers

TaDa - silly idea...

That is not a silly idea at all - just not an option when I started this thread.

When I finally get home, I have a hub I can do that on.
I wanted to buy the screw (get it delivered) and do the real work when I got home.

Its too late now - I have to do the investigative work when I get home and do the real work another time.

My time in the garage at home is limited - it seems Landrovers are not the only thing in the world :(

I will post the details here - just in case anyone else needs them

I know what you mean... and I don't have a garage, only off-road (not that kind!) parking.

Details would be appreciated - the more info on our vehicles the better.

I finally got around to getting and trying the bolt I got from the local 'fasteners'

They call it a "6 x 10 Socket Cap Screw"

It has a 5mm Allen (internal hex) head (about 5mm long and 9mm in diameter)
with 10mm thread length - the thread is 'M6'

Looking at the hole, 12mm even up to 15mm of thread would go in if you can't source the exact one - though I would try and keep the head diameter about the same there's not a lot of romm.

They charged me less than 20p!!

I suspect this is one of the cheapest parts you can buy for a D2 :)

Now, what is a good way to stop the allen head from rotting away - fill the hole with copper grease/silicone maybe - or is there a high tech way?
