Things are moving forward with the trader and my P38, trader is making me offers, still to low but its a start.

My friend has a 1998 4.6 RR. The air suspension takes an age to build up enough pressure to raise the car. The compressor works fine, all air bags ok and piping ok. What is the refurb kit for the valve block, could he need one of those. I know the answer is prob somewhere on the forum but I am on my phone so searching will take an age.

Second issue is the mpg, on a run from kettering to worcestershire sat at a steady 70mph he only achieved 18mpg. I was getting 24 from mine at this speed and driving style.

The car has been sat for a while as the head gasket went and he lost interest for a while, but then fixed the head and had it skimmed then recently had it mot'd and serviced to get it back on the road.

Any thoughts.

Cheers James

Slow to rise is much more likely to be compressor, inlet filter, or leaks in the bags than the valve block.

But i've seen cars with new bags and new compressor taking ages to rise.

If the VB leaks, the compressor serves nothing.

Air suspension is a whole thing, all components have to be good.

High pressure air is fundimental to EAS operation. Compressor running means nothing unless it is making good air. Next thing if compressor is making good air is diaphragm. If that is leaking you will never get pressure. If you don't have good air pressure everything else is useless. The only parts of the valve block that can cause air not to build if the compressor is giving good air are the diaphragm, the diaphragm solenoid valve and NRV1. They are the only parts used in air pressure build, everything else is about distribution. If all airbags are intact and lines secure 999 times out of a 1000 get 140-150 psi in the tank and the car will rise.

Just to add to what wammers said, check the reed valves in the compressor also. A cracked reed valve will prevent an otherwise healthy compressor from building pressure.

Hi Jay good to hear you are getting yours sorted albeit slowly - someone that really knows will be along with better advice on the mpg but I would say it needs to be run for a while to let everything settle down although it might be worth cleaning the MAF with some carb cleaner but go careful
