Hey landy boyz and girls;
I'm very new to this world and just bought my very first defender 110.
I'm super happy with her so far, and have done a ton of research, however there are 2 things that puzzle me, and these 2 things i have never seen before and wondering if anyone out there can help me out.
The truck is a 97 model, it has air con, but has a completely different dash than anyone i have ever seen before.
I've wanted to put in those center console pieces with the swithes and stereo, however with this dash, it doesn't look like it will fit due to all of the air ducts.
Second to this, the truck does not have the fresh air vents that open under the windscreen. they look like they are there from the outside, but upon closer inspection are covered by a plastic piece, have never been punched out, and have no hinge to even make it look like it could open.
Is it possible to retro fit those in?
Also with the whole dash issue, is it possible to put in a newer dash but have the vents lower down and keep the a/c?
any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Steve

this is not a picture of mine, as my camera is done for the next little while, but was able to get this pic off of the net.
Very similar setup, but not exact...a few minor differences, but it gives you a better idea.

I think it would be a mistake to start chopping up your dash. The way it is you have no chance of fitting vents and you have to remember you may want to sell it on one day.
I know this isn't your exact dash but you do have options to fit a bank of switches on the centre panel.... the small panel that has your rear wash wipe and socket.
You can get a replacement panel with up to an extra 4 switches of your choice
Check page 5 on this link... http://croytec.co.uk/Fullcatalogue29.02.pdf
This is a cheapish option.....as to fitting a new dash, no idea sorry.
