Going to fit a pair of freewheeling hubs and I've just replaced the seals and gaskets and in the kit is a felt washer that sits in front of the main hub nut, does anyone know how tight to tighten the hub nut I don't want to bigger up the felt washer.....

If the felt washer is castellated it is designed to push down the splines in the hub , I usually tighten mine with a standard 1/2 hand ratchet so probably around 60ft/lb.
Felt washer generally needs renewing every time removed.

The book says 15-20lbs for the original hubs - I have FHW's and they have a funny nut that I can only do up finger tight which then has a funny little split pin thing. Make sure the split pin is in well and can't fall out and all should be well there is nothing leaning on that nut the splines do all the heavy lifting...

They don't want to be super tight - especially on the back on 88's where being too tight will just repeatedly stress the half shaft.
