Hi ,
I have been reading a lot of positive bits and pieces about Roverrons TD4
tuning. I can't really complain about my Freely but i am going to give her
a Synergy 2 and a new Pierburg MAF. Pocket money fits at the moment, not going to wait until somthing BREAKS!!!
Does anybody know of any after effects after doing this ??
Having maybe to much torque on shafts or Auto box etc ???
Be grateful for any info.
Does anybody know of better tuning methods ??
Please don't say buy a better car !
I also realise that the TÜV here in Germany will not accept this method,
but thats my problem.
Thanks for now .
Peter

Hi Peter,

Sorry but no personal experience with it. Some years ago I ordered a mafam75p from Ron, just in case my maf would go down to be able to buy a much cheaper and better Pierburg rather than to go for Bosch again. While I had it in my cupboard waiting on a Belgian forum one of the guys had problems with his maf, he bought a Pierburg but it didn't work as it should so I offered him to sell him my mafam75p box which he accepted. Unfortunately it seemed to be one of those guys who only log in at a forum if in need of help and forget all about it afterwards. So in spite of several requests for an update/information about the results nothing heard of him anymore. Guess that if it wasn't ok he would have complained? Good luck.

Hi Earthling Freeme. . . .The Rover Ron's tuning is spot on, and will really improve your performance, the original Bosch maf as fitted to the td4 can 1= work fine 2= go out of spec [lack of power at certain revs] 3= go u/s [total lack of power] in the case of 2 the fitting of a rover Ron's gismo will kick it back into spec ,in the case of 3 a new maf would be needed ,a Bosch or a pierbourgh, the pierbough is not the same spec as the Bosch so by fitting Ron's gismo it will alter the error and make it act like a Bosch, the most common fault with the td4 is 2 slightly out of spec,so no need to buy a pierbough unless you want to. . . .hope this all makes sense, and best oh luck :) :) :)

Fitted a Synergy and Pierburgh MAF a few weeks ago. Delighted with improvements. I had a hesitation problem when hot which is cured and using cruise it used to change down on long motorway inclines but no longer. Fuel consumption has remained around 32mpg with mixed journey types.

Hi again,
That all sounds great stuff,i'm not going to hesitate any more!
When its finished i will get in touch and tell the story !
Apart from that i'm also interested in celtic 4x4`s Suspension lift 40mm,
I want to do it myself, seems to be fairly EASY ?
I think it improves the Freelys looks ??
The thing is it is difficult to get in touch with Celtic, i have readen about
mail problems ?
Is Roverron in Morpeth in the North ??Thats not far from my home town
Newcastle .
Thankyou for all info's

Keep going,
Peter

Hi Peter,

I'm a few miles north or Morpeth and can fit a Synergy 2 for you if you book in advance. (no charge for fitting)

Ron

Hi Peter,

I fitted a synergy 2 a couple of weeks ago and so far it seems very good. I've had to try a few of the settings but it has definately made a difference.

One thing to consider...do you or do you not tell your insurance?

I told mine (zurich) and it jumped up, plus quotes from the likes or Direct Line, Churchill etc increased a lot.

Ended up at Adrian Flux who gave my a excellent quote which was cheaper than my original insurance even after the mod.

Hi Ron,
It puts a new aspect on things, coming across to visit you and having it done.
I think its a VERY good idea though,i have loads of questions about this and that ! How much notice do you need before i arrive ? Can i arrange things on
Weekends ?
Thanks Ron .

Peter

Hi Jason,
Living in Germany, the so called TÜV (glorified MOT ) will not accept this at all
without an ABE. Allgemeine Betriebs Erlaubnis.( not sure what its called in Britain,i've been away to long!!!! )So i will most likely give it a go as it is,got no option. Are things tightening up a bit in Britain insurance-MOT wise ??
Thanks for now.
Peter

Hi Peter,
I've had a Roveron for around 18 months now & would recommend it, but dont go for the highest setting, as the Diesel Clatter is louder & the engine will smoke more, I have mine on setting 5, which maintains 40 mpg & greatly improves tourque.

I just fitted a pierburgh MAF and Synergy2 kit from Ron, and top results. I have been using it on nearly the highest settings for torque, so no improvement that I can see on fuel economy, but haven't got geekish about testing that..(yet!).
What is good is that it has turned my Y-plate into a (comparatively!) flying machine. Yay!
Another plug I'll give here is that my previous insurers (e-sure) were going to bump up my premiums by 25% because of the change, I looked about and found that Fluxdirect gave me a 25% reduction on what I had been paying, notwithstanding the change. Double Yay!!
Carry on the good work Ron.
