Freelanders 1999 clutch problems!!!!!!

Hi, I am new here but thought this would be the best place to start.

I have a 1999 2l diesel freelanders.
My dad has replaced the master slave cylinder in aug but the problem still happens. I sometimes have really bad gear changes. It is either 1st or reverse that seem to be bad, but sometimes 1st to 2nd. I have to push my foot throug the floor for the clutch to release so I can get 1st gear.
Please can you help and tell me if the biting point can be Adjusted or what else needs to be done so I get smooth gear change back.
