Freelander yellow engine warning light

Hi all,

Real newby here, I am looking at getting my first landrover and I have opted for a freelander, I test drove one today and the yelllow engine light with the excalmation mark was on solid.

Can anybody shed some light on what this is and how serious the fault behind it could be

The only yellow light with a exclamation mark is the HDC warning lamp. Fault codes will need to be read from the ABS ecu to find the fault, usually its caused by a faulty brake light switch.

Thanks for the reply, this light is the is in the shape of an engine and is constantly yellow.

If it is something as simple as a brake light switch thats good.

hi engine managment light then could be something as simple as a loose wire, o2 sensor, low fuel pressure ned to plug it in if stays on with no noticble lack of power could be just a small problem thats not to serious but needs looking at sooner rater than later,tig
