Hi people please forgive if this is posted in the wrong place I'm a forum virgin lol have no idea of where to post etc anyways I have just bought the misses a 2000 1.8 freelander, its not her first I have bought here a couple before with the 2 litre Bmw engine which we also had problems with, rear diffs, the VCU's!!!! Props IRD's etc which I replaced, I'm no stranger with the spanners and fixing all my own cars but not an expert by any means and I'm open to learning from others. Now a couple things with this 1.8 that I just bought for her. When you start up hot or cold there is a mean scream coming from somewhere but it is instantaneous but loud, any ideas?? Now for the biggest problem... you pull away... 1st gear fine, the minute you change up to 2nd it's like a bloody kangaroo but the minute you change out and up to 3rd-4th-5th it's fine?? It's just 2nd gear?? Now the previous own owner has removed the prop with all that crap about fuel economy blah blah blah more like VCU locked up lol I removed the prop from our old freelander for the exact same reason but I blanked off the IRD which has no been done to this one and the transfer box is making an odd noise nothing that really stands out but there's a weird but faint like metal on metal sound! Could this be the cause of the bouncing in 2nd gear or am I looking in the wrong place?? Maybe the gear box/clutch or something completely different?? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
