Hi there
I own a freelander td4 sport 2004(with many problems) and i need the rave cd including my car.Any suggestions from where to download?

First of all i want to say big Thanks for spending time to help me.
Second forgive me for my English as i am from Cyprus and am trying to write English...
Here is my story.. i bought this freelander td4 sport ENGINE IS BMW M47R AUTOMATIC
(2004 model) importer from UK the car said 45000 miles when i bought it and now it has 59000, the problem starts before one month in idle the car was playing around 750&900 rpm but after accelerate EVERYTHING was perfect no power loss nothing but after a trip around 80miles when i get out of the high way start to give me a knock in idle something like the piston hit a valve..but still good after 1500rpm and no power loss.
so i took it to the garage and is been there for 1 month now..
they start replacing the injectors after they find the camshaft pulley broken not the iron but the rubber inside and they try to replace it but when they took out they try to turn the engine manually to see if the car is ok SET TO time chain the engine stops before they can rich the marks and they decide to remove the head ,they remove the head and at piston no 4 we find a lot of black coal and they said that this was the problem that engine not turn manually, so they took the valve head to send to the specialist to check, they replace the valves and send back to us and they put it back with all the new set of gaskets they finish the car and start it, the engine works good but we have a loooot of black smoke and no power at all is like that the turbo is missing, after this we change everything maf sensor and other 2 sensors i don’t remember the names we put the car in the diagnostic and said no errors this car is driving us crazy and my mechanic ask me to download this cd as my work is the computers so he can check everything from the beginning i really don’t know what to do we change almost everything at this car and still the SAME A LOOOT OF BLACK SMOKE (LIKE BURNING CAR TYRES) AND NO POWER AT ALL..
SORRY I KNOW THAT I SAID TO MATCH BUT THIS IS THE TRUTH.. ME WITH OUT A CAR FOR 1 MONTH AND DON’T KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO BE THE FINAL CHARGE FOR ALL THIS...STARTING TO THING IF IT WAS BETTER TO CHANGE THE WHOLE ENGINE

Well black smoke and loss of power can be as simple as a split intercooler hose, but i would expect your mecanic to have found that. The rave dowload is the only one to down load, as they changed the system at landrover from 2004 onwards, so dealers use a different system that you can not download, however most of the things are the same.
Is it using a lot of oil then would suspect that the seals in the turbo has let go, it would explain the loss of power and black smoke.
The down side is it a bit of a bad job to do, we did one last week.
So ask them the check the hoses first, then look at the turbo.

Thanks booboodag i forget to tell that we change the intercooler hoses 2 you can see them when you open the bonnet and he check the down one and he said that is ok.
the only thing that is sure, is that something goes wrong with the turbo as my mechanic accelerate the car in idle and i hold the intercooler hose and i dont feel pressure..
is there any possibility the problem to be the westgate??or is there any possibility to mismatch the other small solenoids working with vacuum? is that have anything to do with the turbo?
Also I am wondering if is possible the timing to be wrong?
Because as I know when you have wrong timing the engine knocks (piston hit the valves?)

have they checked the pipes that feed the solanoid boost control, the ones that run along side the injectors. My money now would be on the turbo. dont know what the cost out there would be, over in the uk you can get the turbo refurbed for around 300 uk pounds, As for doing the work its around a full days work as ird has to come off to acsess the turbo
 
Thanks very match booboodag first thing Monday morning we will check pipes that feed the solenoids boost control hope so that is not the turbo as before taking out the head
The engine was running ok so I believe that is something have to do with reassembling the Engine and putting back the solenoids of turbo and vacuum pipes.
I wish to have something like your Landyzone here. Because many people have Landrover
Here and they have problems that our mechanics can not find so a lot of people avoid to buy A land rover and everybody said: DON’T BUY these cars …
Also I forget to say that I call the only one authorised dealer we have here and ask when They can check my car and they said maybe after 2 weeks.. And I know when you take your Car there the only thing is sure is that if you are not rich you will need a loan to take it back..

How did your mechanics set the timing when they refitted the head, as landrover use a special tool for checking and resetting the timing, so if they have no access to that tool, it may be they have got the timing set wrong.
 
It could still be an overfuelling problem if the excess smoke is definitely black (fuel) and not blue (oil).

If they are absolutely certain there are no induction air leaks perhaps they should turn their attention to the fuel rail pressure sensor and the condition of it's plug and harness.
Apart from a possible faulty sensor there is a known problem with corrosion of the plug and harness.
 
It could be worth looking at the rail, but if it was running fine prior to the head coming off and now its running like a pig, would be looking at timing, and i expect that his mechanic in cyprus may not have had a lot of experiance in the td4 and all its quirks
