hi all i have a td4 prob for you to solve if you all could be so kind, two days ago it was raining hard and i drove through a large puddle by the side of the road at some speed pushing water all over the bonnet and screen and presumably up into the engine bay and straight away the engine management light came on but i have no loss of performance at all and the light does go off at high revs and on again at low revs ,when diving for some time the light goes off at lower revs any sugestions would be appreciated thanks .... hightowerzs

without a shadow you have water in somewhere. can you see under the bonnet the path the water took, and what sensors were in the firing line and maybe affected ?

hi guys your all saying what i am thinking, that water is somewhere causing havoc its a dry saturday tomorrow so im in under the bonnet looking for the wet spot the water was muddy so it has left a mark where it went ie nearside bulkhead the light was still intermitantly coming on and off today but performance of my freelander is a'ok still so fingers crossed wd40 in one hand and hair dryer in the other i shall prevail.

Right guys i Know i have finaly found it, bit of a mixed bag this one a few days before the water incident i had a mot done and the kid!!!!!!!!! in the mot station said that he had put a litre of engine oil in because my level was low?? this i was quite supprised as i am very hot on my checks but didnt think any more of it at the time that was my mistake luckly i was going to do a oil and filter change and this is when i found out that my engine oil had been over filled only by a bit bit but enough to start my engine managment light flickering on and off i think that the water might have knocked the senser into action????????? two weeks later and all is back to normal yeaaaaa.
thanks for your suggestions its much appreciated.
