Hello,
quick query, I have 04 freelander and the Traction Control and
Hill Descent Warning lights have come on and stayed on. I haven't been
anywhere near a hill. Is it safe to drive and should I prepare myself
for a hefty repair bill?
Thanks, Simon.

If you never need them, take the bulbs out ;-)

I've heard of this a couple of times. could be a few things
1. A fault with the ABS sensors. (a part of HDC/TC workings. Sometimes they
move in their holders and just need a tap back in with a hammer and block of
wood.
2. Poor connection to the HDC switch.

Hope this will help you. If you take it to a local garage, niether fault
should warrant a hefty repair bill.

Stew.

I have a similar problem with a 52 plate 3dr I've recently bought. It's
back with the dealer to be fixed (4th time in as many weeks of ownership!).
There is a lot of similar problems on other forums that point to a faulty
ABS unit but then you normally get the ABS warning light on as well as
TC/HDC. I'm only getting TC and HDC lights on; of course it means you can't
use HDC, I don't know whether TC is then also disabled?

My dealer has got LR involved this week so I'll let you know what they have
to say. As for repair bills, an 04 vehicle should still be covered by the
original warranty - take it to your (or any) LR dealer and get them to fix
it.

Have you got SatNav?

Regards
Pip

Isn't it still under warranty?

It's probably a faulty wheel speed sensor which shouldn't cost much anyway.

Make sure the brake lights work. The switch is a common malady.
