Can anyone help ? My 99 freelander's tailgate window is stuck in the up position. I've done the recalibration process and all that happens when I press the down switch is a short beep. The window doesn't lower at all at any point in the recal process. The wiper appears to be in the parked position eg not on the glass.
Strangely enough, when starting out trying to fix this this morning, the door latch wouldn't work then it did, then the wiper wouldn't work except by pressing the tailgate window down switch (but the window itself didn't move) then it did work again and now it's not. The earth's appear to be ok and no apparent loose connections. Could this be the CCU ? can I reset it ? What does it sequence first wiper or window ?
I'm totally confused

Try this, dissconect yer battery [make sure ya have youre radio code]give it over ten seconds orft, after re connection, using yer fob [all doors shut] press alarm, wait 3secs,press open, wait 3secs, do this three times[that will enable your alarm memory] try again if this is a no go then the prox that tell the window its up is faulty or outa line[or the wiring has got wraped up inside] or your door lock bit is faulty yer gonna have ta take your rear bit orft and have a visual, best oh luck. . .:)

Tried this this morning but to no avail. I can hear the up and down relays operating but the regulator does nothing. I've also flashed 12v across the appropriate connections in the brown connector in the right rear leading to the motor but still does nothing. The Heated rear window doesn't work either but the latch/handle opens the door ok (the glass is outside the channel)

lo and behold, the wife took it shopping this morning (against my better judgement) and came back with the shopping and a working tailgate !!!!
I'm wondering if low battery voltage has anything to do with this.

I visually checked all the cables and earth for damage in the door and rear quarter - all appeared to be ok.
Well its now workin fine but if it returns a few bits ya can check, sounds like ya tailgate ,so check ya voltage at yer rear ,ya have 2x switches 1=tailgate open and 2=switch in cab ,ya have a relay and a dc motor wiv brushes inside[that wear out] all this is cotrolled by the ccu,if the ccu was kaput then you would have a lot of other problems so forget that , easyist options =relay first ,sw in back panel , wiring fault [poor connection] window motor[brushes]Ah and nearly forgot if its the soft top model ya got a switch on the roof i think that can go open circuit and give yer a headache , best oh luck. . .
