I was driving my Freelander XEDI S reg when all of a sudden the engine went noisier and when in gears 3 - 5 could feel the gearbox vibrating and moving. The steering also feels like it is vibrating when the car is idle. Do you think this is the IRD gone then as I used to have a clunking noise a few months back when reversing or sometimes in 1st or 2nd gear? The car now feels noisier and makes a sort of scraping noise when driving. Prior to this happening the accelerator pedal would feel like it had a loose spring or something and you could hear the noise when the pedal is pressed down going from idle to gears 1 - 3 but since this happened I can't feel that anymore. Can anyone shed light on what it may be? Whatever it is I'm getting rid of the car anyway as I've had too many problems from day one. Just last week I put in a new alternator and alternator belt as it broke whilst driving on the motorway.

Got the car towed away today and they said it is the driver side front engine mount which is damaged and needs replacing. Do you know roughly how much this will cost to get replaced?

hi there - I have just changed one of these. Very easy to do and only took 10 mins. I already had the sump guard off, taking that on and off would add an extra 30 mins or so at a garage. The part (aftermarket) was about £50

good luck

To be honest - yes. Full price part and 1/2 to 1 hours labour. You can DIY if you have some basic tools and a free couple of hours. Outside of a set of sockets/spanners you would need a trolley jack to support the engine
