Freelander Starter Motor Fixings

Hi, can anyone tell me where the fixing bolts are on the Freelander (Diesel yr2000) Starter Motor. I can see one close to the Lucar connector and according to the Freelander workshop manual diagram (not Haynes) the second is only a couple of inches away. I can't see it and I'm thinking its on the opposite side (180 degrees round) of the housing out of sight? Can someone confirm.

Hi, If it's a TD4 the other bolt is on top, 180 deg round and well hidden behind some rubber pipes. The only spanner I can get in there is a short ring spanner so it's a bit tedious. The starter will just come out with a bit of fiddling past the oil cooler pipework. Good luck.

Thanks for replying Dann, its not a TD4 so not sure how different it is to L-series diesel. Looking at the starter motor side on with the engine behind I can see the top bolt at roughly the 11'o'clock position. I'm thinking the second is in the 5'o'clock position? Anyone else know?

Just looking at that pic I think it's a trying to show it as a sort of x-ray through the solenoid. So it's going to be underneath the solenoid.
