Freelander start problem

Hi my 2003 1.8 litre freelander kalahari wont start

it cranks a few times then starts with the initial rev, if you let go of the key it cuts out, if you leave the key it continues to crank after the brief start.

mechanic checked all fuel lines and no prob fuel getting into engine fine

i did let the tank run to completely empty twice?

any ideas what could be the problem

Is it actually running with the key held in the cranking position or just turning over ?

It just turns over for about 10 seconds then starts with one rev,

if i let go of the key after the brief start it stops running full stop

if i leave the key in the start position after the brief start it just continues to crank and will not even attempt to restart

fule is getting to the injector manifold but somthing going wrong

p.s the car hasn't moved for ages and the cars very damp inside?

couldit be a damp ECU?

My freelander immoboliser is staying on. Is there any easy solution?

m tonks, could it be the ignition switch?

would i be right in thinking it could be a messed up ECU?

Check your camshaft and crankshaft sensors.

and fuel inertia cut off switch
