Hi,

'03 Freelander 3door rear window does not work if top is down.
If top gets removed window goes down automatically and does not engage until top is on.
My soft-top sensor is loose because window goes down while I'm driving and I have to shake the top around before I can raise the window.
Anyone know where is the sensor? It doesn't look to be in the 2 posts that stick into the car horizontally behind sunroof. Seems there are only 2 other possible spots and I am not able to figure out how the car knows when the top is on. Thanks for the help! Nipplelander still running great at 103k miles

Hi

The switch should be on the drivers side, if you look about half way up on the rear slopping channel there shoould be a bracket and the sensor should sit in there

I had the problem when I first getting my freelander with the rear window going down, I got someone to lift the hardtop off, retighened the switch and then the roof was resecured

Also bought 2 x new front clips, the red ones as they didn't seem to hold the roof on correctly

I also made sure that when the hard top was repositioned that it sat squarely on top of the switch

Also made sure the soft top bracket were also bolted on tightly

In adition you can if the rubbers etc are one is insert a piece of small card between the switch and hard top

If however it doesn't make any difference I imagine you would have to replace the switch

Also the sensor prevents the back window going up again with the roof off as I imagine that it could possibly break if you was going down a motorway the wind would hit it as though it was a brick wall

The rear window is designed to lower with the hard top off to protect it from breaking , I can't think of another reason why they designed it like that apart from stopping it getting broke

Hope this may help but there are other guys on here that have a lot more knowledge than me and may suggest a better idea

Ha the problem was that I never checked my passenger side. Thanks for the input Gary! I think ill tape it down for now. I kinda like always having ability to break it.
