Freelander Side Steps

Does anyone know how easy it is to remove/refit the side steps on a
Freelander? I want to take them off to improve ground clearance on my Sport
TD4 for an off roading session. Looking underneath it seems to be just 4
bolts on each side but I am unsure if there are captive nuts in the chassis
sections or will I lose the nuts inside if I remove them??

the ouriggers which support the sidesteps are each secured by two bolts
screwed into tapped holes in the underframe (can't really call it chassis
rails) and the spare wheel key is the correct size to remove them
assuming the rockapes have not been playing! you should get a copy of the
RAVE software if I could work out how I should send you the correct page

The side steps are attached with screws into nutserts. In theory
it should just be a case of unscrewing the screws and then re-fitting,
but if the nutserts become loose it would not be difficult to fit
new ones.
