Hi
I have a 99- 3 door -1.8L freelander and its been overfueling for over a while now. I have replaced the engine last year due to HGF with a used similar one , replaced the thermostat and complete inlet manifold. The issue we were getting is that the fan would kick in when the temperature gauge is above half, and it would sometimes be as high as 3/4 before cooling down. We replaced the coolant sensor with a nissan one that starts the fan when the temperature is just below mid way as feared for another HGF. But when going thru diagnostic, it would say the coolant sensor is faulty. so bought a new original one and put back and would do the same issue again, temperature shoots up before fan comes in. It does smells fuel in the exhaust. Any idea what maybe the problem? is it the ECU that needs to be reprogrammed to match the new engine? or is the ECU faulty? Was thinking that the ECU is not reading the coolant sensor correctly thus injecting more fuel. But need to fix the fan issue before getting an original sensor back in. Can anyone please help/advice?
